Legendary Neumann v475-2C Summing Mixer by VintageMaker
Neumann v475-2C NOS summing amp!
32 BALANCED INPUT BY 32xTRS(1,4" TRS) 16L AND 16R = 16 STEREO INPUTNO UNUSED INPUT PROBLEM! YOU CAN USE 8 OR 16 INPUTS WITHOUT ANY ISSUES!
2xSTEREO MASTER OUT BY TRS BALANCED (MAIN/MONITOR)4xSTEREO TO MONO OPTION = 8 MONO BY SWITCH
MASTER ACTIVE/PASSIVE 2in1 OPTION BY SWITCHMASTER INSERT/RETURN BY SWITCH VIA TRS BALANCED2x21 STEP PRECISION NEUMANN MASTER GAIN CONTROL L/R POTENTIOMETERWORLD WIDE 110V-240V 50-60Hz TO 24V POWER ADAPTER
NEW BUILT!  Laser Engraved!  Directly from VintageMaker32 input by TRS balanced - 16 Left and 16Right input = 16Stereo
Due to unique designed summing network you can leave unconnected 8-16 or more inputs without any problem!
Stereo to mono option: enable to switch a stereo input CH to (two) separate mono centered inputs, the mono will be a true centered analog mono in the mix
CH1 to 1-2 mono, CH2 to 3-4 mono, CH3 to 5-6 mono, CH4 to 7-8 mono
SWITCH OFF stage: works as standard stereo balanced inputs (CH1=L+R) with panorama control from DAW
SWITCH ON stage:  works as separate mono centered inputs without DAW panorama  control.
Routing from DAW: eg. send out CH1 Left mono track (bass) to summing CH1 Left, and send out CH1 Right mono track (bassdrum) to summing CH1 Right (both signals will be placed on the center)
* with STM(Stereo to mono) option can save a lot of DAW interface out
**no need to waste precious stereo CH's for mono instruments like bass, sub bass, bassdrum etc.
***clarity of position in the stereo field (mono is true mono)Active/Passive option: (2 in 1) by switch
ACTIVE -  Summed signal goes through legendary Haufe transformer based Neumann 2B amp
PASSIVE - Use your Mic Pre's or Line amplifier,  to get a  wide tonal character
Benefits: different amp = different sound characterMaster Insert/Return option: designed for external gears like EQ, Comp, Limiter etc.
INSERT SWITCH ACTIVE: route master out signal to external gears
RETURN SWITCH ACTIVE: return enable from external gears (then goes to master outputs)2x21 step precision Neumann master gain (L/R) control potentiometer

Mix in analog
You can use different amps = give different sound character of your mix.
Of course gain make up is important point.(that's the final step)So you can just send through summing your mix, of course will sound better, but here come the trick.(yes, you need to do, the summing is a tool in your hands)
PanoramaFirstly need to find for all your instruments the right places in to the stereo field, the right locations where they sit better in to the whole mix. Don't forget - your instruments are mixed in the analog domain: as sinusoidal voltages! Gain stagingGain staging is like pulling the focus of a camera lens, so the cardinal point is the individual gain sent from DAW interface outputs to summing network.(they will be mixed as voltage) so strictly need to find for all your instruments/tracks individually the "gentle distorsion" point, where the subtle distortion starts gently and it's about right. Sweet spot
Make up gain "crank it up" - make up gain by your mic pres or internal summing amp, and hit the sweet spot of master mix, then print/record. It's important to find the sweet-spot when the level and subtle distortion is just about right, depending on the song and production. ITB has no sweet-spot and there's really no reward running the levels a bit too hot, on the contrary is even makes the mix sound worse.
Don't forget: "there is no magic bullet in recording or mixing" so you are the key factor, by making experiences in tthe analog mixing can make your mixes better.

 hand wired and tested point-to-point!

However, for mono signals (such as kick, snares, lead vocals or bass that should appear centered in the middle of a mix),
it would be a waste to use (Stereo L/R panned channels) what would amount to two required converters for a mono result.
In such cases, channel pairs 1 & 2, 3 & 4 etc may be switched to mono mode (CH1 to 1-2), so that, for example,
there might be a (mono) kick on channel 1, snare on channel 2 and bass on channel 3, etc.

Digital summing: binary bits (0’s and 1’s) also known as digital data of every track in your mix are added to produce a stereo “mixdown”. These processes are done “mathematically” inside your DAW that employs complex binary arithmetic or floating point calculation to carry out the operation. In analog world (summing): there are no 0’s and 1’s but only voltages. These are complex sinusoidal voltages that include the harmonics and other elements. Many engineers consider this to add the “warm”, “in-depth” and nice separation sound you get from analog.  (Emerson R. Maningo)
