The bandoneon was created in Germany as an organ of portable church for the task of evangelization. For that reason has ordained buttons so to facilitate the implementation of the evangelists songs, so they are very "untidy" when playing a scale, for example. Among the most recognized factories of bandoneón are those of the Arnold dynasty. In 1864 Louis Ernst Arnold (Carlsfeld) acquires the factory Carl Friedrich Zimmermann and production bandoneons E. L. A (Ernst Louis Arnold) begins. When he retired in 1880, one of his sons (Ernst Hermann Arnold) took over the company.
Ernst Louis Arnold died in 1910. The following year Paul and Alfred (other two brothers of Ernst Hermann Arnold) opened its own factory in the same town of Carlsfeld.
The new factory begins to produce the emblematic AA (called "double A"), A, Premier and Alfa. Parallel Ernst Hermann Arnold continues to manufacture the old line ELA. When he died he left it to his son Otto Arnold. The ELA factory closed in 1959.
Alfred Arnold dies in 1933 and Paul Arnold in 1952. Of the descendants of the Arnold dynasty follow Arno Arnold (son of Paul) and Horst Arnold (son of Alfred), who take possession of the AA plant. In 1949 they decide to close the factory to begin manufacturing pumps for the automotive industry. In 1950 Arno Arnold opened his own factory in Western Germany and produces the bandoneon Arno Arnold.
