On offer is a Taylor SolidBody Custom Walnut, in near pristine condition, featuring a sweet, figured walnut top on a chambered sapele body. Taylor described their SolidBody series as "modern-retro"... a very cool look indeed. It's loaded with two Taylor-designed 3/4 humbuckers and a 5-way switch. Here's what it does: Position 1: full neck pickup
Position 2: "skinny neck tone" (inside coils of neck & bridge pickups in parallel)
Position 3: "in-between rock tone" (full neck pickup with inside coil of bridge pickup)
Position 4: "fat single coil tone" (inside coils of neck & bridge pickups in series)
Position 5: full bridge pickup An interesting feature on the tone control too: it functions normally until you get to 3/4 of the taper, then it starts adding mids to your sound. Combined with the 5-way switch, you can get quite a few sounds out of this one! All in all, a sweet guitar in very clean condition. "Taylor Guitars is an American guitar manufacturer based in El Cajon, California. They specialize in acoustic guitars and semi-hollow electric guitars. The company was founded in 1974 by Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug. In 1972, at age 18, Bob Taylor began working at American Dream, a guitar making shop owned by Sam Radding, where Kurt Listug was already an employee. When Radding decided to sell the business in 1974, Taylor and Listug bought American Dream and renamed it the Westland Music Company. Needing a more compact logo suitable for the guitars' headstock, the founders decided to change the name to Taylor as it sounded more American than Listug. Kurt Listug said, "Bob was the real guitar-maker”. Listug became the partnership's businessman while Taylor handled design and production. In 1976, the company decided to sell their guitars through retailers. As of 2012, Taylor Guitars had more than 700 employees in two factories: one in El Cajon, California, and the other in nearby Tecate, Mexico, where the company has their lower-priced models and cases made."
