I bought this mic directly off of ADK. When it was first released I had the opportunity to try the Vienna and the Hamberg back to back with a classic Neumann U 87 and was amazed by the performance of the Vienna which sounded very similar to the U87
After trying the Vienna for a few sessions I ended up purchasing the Hamberg IIau because I preferred its more natural sound. The Hamberg IIau it is a non-hyped version of the Vienna with an even frequency response and very little sibilance problems. Over the years that I used this mic professionally I used it to record male and female volcals, R&B, Hip-Hop and Country styles, I really latched on to the versatility of this mic especially when paired with a neve 1073 and Great River ME-1NV preamp. The mic excels on many sources, but particularly the female vocal that is already very bright as well as acoustic guitar. Demo Tracks:

There is a variety of tracks on this playlist with different styles, all vocals were recorded through this mic.I have found in the era of cheap, Chinese condesor microphones it is very hard to find a non-hyped mic, most feature a boost in their frequency response around 10k to give them an artificially bright, hi-fidelity sound. The Hamberg IIau preforms as expected with a surreal hyper-real tone that is neither too bright or too dark. Very clear, no grittiness, excellent highs that are sweet and not harsh --  In short this mic is a great addition to your arsenal!Product Description:Visually, the Hamburg II-AU and Vienna II-AU mics are identical, the only difference being the model number printed on the front of the mic.
