This one, a NATIONAL SILVO SQUARENECK rare as Hen's teeth was available from the National Factory between 1936 and 1941 and/or owners of Tenor Guitars could send their instruments back to the factory for conversion. The serial number C2026 dates it firmly in 1936 and its a fantastic homage to Art Deco with its lines and details, Bakelite and Roman Numerals. Beautiful German Nickel Silver body with no dents or dings and almost flawless condition. Original enclosed Knutsen tuners with "National" logos on the covers. There are a couple of faint scratches on the back but they are so hard to see and the camera struggles to pick them up in the reflection from the mirror finish. If you look very carefully, there's a hint of fading by the lower bout, but i've never seen an old guitar in such good condition. Its sizes overall are: 33 1/2 inches long; 12 3/4 inches wide (max) 3 1/4 inch deep (max) String length is 23 inchesThis guitar has hardly been played. I've played it a bit and to show the unusually decent output from the pickup, I've recorded a video using an iPad - don't expect audio quality, but it all works as it should with separate volume and tone controls accessed by the original Bakelite knobs. It sounds great. Surprisingly! click here.. https://youtu.be/AV52V-sPC2sCompletely original - except for a new lead from the original plug to a jack plug because the old lead was rotten. Ideal for someone who cares about preserving a beautiful piece of guitar history.Fabulous guitar which would grace any collection but also sounds and plays as it should.PLEASE NOTE: This is a square neck Guitar with raised action for Lap Playing in the Hawaiian Style.
