Description Brand: Fender Model: Stratocaster Road Worn
Here's a guitar that is truly much more than the sum of its parts. And the parts are pretty darn impressive. Here's a quick list of them (and associated costs) so that you can appreciate the quality of this awesome instrument: $900 - 2015 Fender Road Worn 60's Stratocaster $430 - Warmoth USA Pro Model Roasted Maple neck with '59 profile, Earvana compensated nut (for perfect intonation), and stainless steel frets $300 - Seymour Duncan Antiquity 2 Surfer Pro vinatge-voiced boutique pickups $70 - Sperzel locking tuners Grand Total = $1700 to create this guitar! I'm a position where I need to sell it, so here's an awesome opportunity for its next owner to get one heck of a guitar for a lot less dough. This guitar sounds like it cost more than twice it's actual price. Seriously. The specifications are either identical, or, in some ways, actually superior to the most expensive custom shop models, and it sounds GREAT! Like the very best vintage strats. Once in a while, one comes across a guitar that plays so well, and sounds so good, that, regardless of its brand, year, or model, it just can't be compared to other guitars. It has a strong character and presence that is uniquely its own. This is one of those guitars. I've played it at several gigs and, after each one, I've always gotten many compliments on the unbelievable tone, "punchiness", chime-iness, and character of this guitar. Seriously though, this guitar has one of the biggest baddest tones of any guitar I've ever heard, including many of the pros' guitars. This guitar easily has one the most comfortable an easy to play necks I've ever played on. It's a beautiful and ridiculously comfortable roasted maple neck. The roasting process gives the wood a beautiful vintage tint, and makes it immune to warping and moldiness. It also eliminates moisture from the neck and crystallizes sap deep in the wood, causing the neck to vibrate and sound like the most gracefully-aged necks from the 50's and 60's. Roasted maple is also one of the most stable woods out there, great for keeping a setup, and imparting insanely long sustain. Oh, and it's got that ridiculously comfortable natural satin feel that is a joy to move across. Warmoth's '59 Roundback profile is reminiscent of the neck profiles of stratocasters from Fender's glory days. It has gotten rave reviews. Perfectly fills up the hand without being too chunky or uncomfortable. Somewhere between a fat U and a modern C. Very versatile and suitable for all styles of music I've tried, including jazz. The frets are tall and narrow stainless steel frets. They're made of Warmoth's quality German-sourced stainless steel. They'll never wear out. They're in like new-condition and will stay that way, even with heavy playing, for a lifetime and beyond. The nut is the Earvana compensated nut, a $65 upgrade that allows you to achieve near-perfect intonation that is far better than what's normally possible on a strat. The neck is Warmoth's pro model, meaning that it's got a unique truss rod system that can be adjusted from the side. It's the most stable neck design on the market, and has never needed adjustment since it was set up, because it hasn't moved at all! The fretboard is a beautifully colored Pau Ferro slab. It sounds awesome. It's no wonder Stevie Ray Vaughan chose to have a Pau Ferro fretboard on his signature model. I'd say it sounds like good rosewood with a little extra sizzle/spank, but less than pure maple. It's got all the warmth, complexity, and fullness of good rosewood too, but is physically smoother and less porous. All in all, the neck on this guitar is a big winner when it comes to tone and playability. The guitar is finished in Fender's really nicely done lightly-worn nitrocellulose lacquer finish, which allows the wood vibrate and breath properly, resulting in a much more resonant guitar (according to Fender's custom shop). Actually, I don't know for sure if it's the nitro or just the body, but this guitar is insanely resonant and alive when played. A guitar body this resonant and light is quite a rare, especially for a Mexican-bodied strat, but Fender's road worn series is known to be much, much better than normal Mexican stats. The road worn bodies are said in lots of players' circles and forums to even exceed the quality and musicality of American made Fenders. But these Road Worns are the very top of the Mexican line, and allegedly more money goes into higher grade body wood, and the guitar's components, and Fender can have their employees be more selective for woods on these, as well as overall better quality. Plus, these go for vintage specs and vintage legendary sound, while the American standards don't aren't nearly as ideal for this kind of sound as they are more "modern-oriented" and funky sounding. This Road Worn guitar is a rock and roll and blues machine! So, for almost the same new price as an American standard, this custom shop-level Road Worn 60's strat brings custom-shop like quality for a much lower price. This is really the best example I've ever seen, possibly the best Strat I've ever played. In many ways, it beats my all-American made SRV strat (choosing between these two guitars was hard but my SRV has more sentimental value hence why I'm keeping it), being different with its own mojo and a bit more tonal versatility and higher quality in my opinion. I would say that the feel and tone are as good as on any Fender custom shop stratocaster I've seen/played, but I actually feel that they're better on this one. It's got a really larger sized tremolo block, and that means one thing: SUSTAIN! The neck feel is perfectly worn in, and the frets are impeccable and shaped for ridiculously good playability. Here's one guitar that SINGS with a truly incredible and premium sound! The pickups are Seymour Duncan's famous Antiquity II surfer set, which can nail almost anything, especially the sizzling and punchy sounds of blues rock that Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan are known for, but also, as the name implies, cleaner surf-style riffs. I believe that John Frusciante, former guitarist of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers also uses these pickups. Many players and reviewers aren't shy about how these pickups nail THE 1960's strat sound more accurately than anything else out there, and that's why I ended up picking them. And they didn't disappoint! Pickups contribute more to tone than any other part of a guitar, and since this guitar combines fantastic pickups with quality alder, Pau Ferro, and maple, just like the best of the best, the guitar sounds like a real vintage Stratocaster for much less than a real vintage would cost you! Visually and tonally, it's safe to say that this guitar has CHARACTER! Guitar has been very well and carefully maintained and cared for. Comes in soft case with an extra set of strings. It just NEEDS a good setup to your preferences and will be 100% ready to play! If you have any questions, please let me know I accept payments made through PayPal only, no exceptions. I'll only ship internationally through eBay's global shipping program. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. Thank you!
