Description Brand: Fender Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Series: Danny Gatton Custom Shop Telecaster MPN: Part No. 010-8700 Body Type: Solid Model: 52 Tele String Configuration: 6 String Dexterity: Right-Handed Exact Year: 1994
This is an early 1994 Danny Gatton Custom Shop Telecaster number 0246 with the Joe Barden pickups. The later models don't have these pickups and they make the difference. They are quiet and powerful. If you want a true Danny Gatton sound, buy an early one that comes with the Joe Braden's. Super light weight, just under 7 pounds. I would say it is in mint or near mint condition. I can't find a scratch on it. No play or fret wear. All fret markers are in place. I think the prior owner and I both purchased it as a collectible and not really to play. It is the Frost Gold color that Danny had his brother come up with. The original owner special ordered an additional black Bakelite pickguard to go with the standard off white one (still coated in the plastic) that comes with the guitar; you get both pickguards. He wanted the guitar to look just like Danny's in some Telecaster reference book. I got this information from the seller I bought it from in 2009. I have attached a few pictures of Danny playing one with the black pickguard. I am from Maryland (live in Georgia now) and was fortunate to see Danny play locally a number of times in the D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia area. See the pictures. I believe everything is there that came with the guitar. It comes with the original hard shell tweed case. The case is near mint but does have a few minor scuffs. I am starting the bidding at a reasonable price for this guitar and offering free shipping. This is a special guitar ... the Joe Bardens and it's excellent condition make it so. I don't think you will be able to find one 22 years old in this condition. Details: Body- 2 piece lightweight ash, neck- lightly figured eastern hardrock maple (custom 50's style), pickups- custom barden dual coil tele (neck), custom barden dual coil tele (bridge), controls- master volume, master tone- custom circuit, bridge/tremolo- custom design bridge & saddles non tremolo, pickup switching- 3 position blade- special shape, etc.
