Up for sale, a 2000 Fender Mustang model MG69 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Recently discontinued and produced by Fender Japan exclusively for the domestic market, this CIJ (Crafted in Japan) Mustang was never intended for export and is now quite rare anywhere on the globe! This guitar sports a finish known as Aged Olympic White, which is slightly tinted to a milky, faintly yellow version of Olympic White straight from the factory. It's hard to beat a Mustang for ease of playability, and this guitar in particular has enough chime, twang, and snap on tap to satisfy the most fervent of Fender followers. Featherweight at only 7lbs 2oz, the acoustic qualities of this particular guitar are readily apparent, with a vibrant voice that translates well through the two single coil pickups. Whether you want bridge pickup sparkle or warmer tones from the neck single coil, this Mustang gives you what you need, not to mention a great out of phase sound when the pickup switches are placed in opposite directions. Professionally setup here at our shop, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Mustang has fresh 11-50 strings, spot-on intonation, and low action. The neck has your standard medium C Fender profile, with the Mustang's 24" scale length and traditional Fender 1 5/8" nut width. The rosewood fretboard is quite thick and just short of being a full "slab", with a traditional 7 1/4" raduis, pearl dot inlay, and frets that are in excellent shape. The stock frets retain their full, original height, with faint wear on frets 1-3, and lighter flattening of just the crowns beneath the G and B strings until roughly fret 7. There is no notable wear further up the neck, and the guitar plays well with no buzzing and a responsive truss rod. On the headstock, the classic "Mustang" logo is present as well as the stock Kluson style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics work exactly as they should, and the red tortoise pickguard contrasts nicely with the clean chrome hardware and Oly White finish. Cosmetically, there's only minor honest playwear on this Mustang, with faint surface patina on the tailpiece beneath the vibrato inserts and on the bridge, as well as some small nicks and finish chips just south of the knobs on the treble side edge of the body. There is also light finish checking at the neck pocket, along with one extra strap button hole on the bass side body horn, and a few light scratches in the clear coat of the finish on the back. Overall, this guitar has weathered the last decade and a half in style, with minimal wear, ideal fret life, and a professional setup courtesy of our techs here at the Guitar Bar.
