The C12 is an elegant sounding circuit with a very smooth overall character and makes for a grand improvement with the stock 460 capsule. When coupled with the Peluso CEK12, the lows are fuller, the mids are smoother and the high end is ethereal by comparison. Female vocals absolutely excel on the C12 circuit; as well acoustic guitar and drum overheads are a favored application. The Dutch C12 microphone uses a Cinemag transformer which offers exceptionally warm mids and high frequency response along with a big bottom end. - Dutch $1250 (includes microphone with Cinemag CM-2480 transformer and NOS GE 5 Star tube, custom PSU, 7 pin tube cable, case, shockmount, IEC cable)- Peluso CEK-12 capsule $273- Custom C12 style Headbasket upgrade $150 - Cimemag CM-2480 transformerJim Jacobsen - JJ Audio "The mod that I do for the Dutch involves negative voltage applied to the grid to bias the tube properly. This is a similar method that AKG used in the original C12. The power supply must be modded to accomplish this. I also mod the power supply so that there is an improvement in the performance of the supply. Better caps and wire increase the longevity of the supply and the quality of th signal path. I also add Ferrite beads."
