BUY WITH CONFIDENCE CHECK OUT OUR GUITAR SELLING FEEDBACK!! 8301 PLUS TRADES AND COUNTING...riffmusic@live.atThis is a  pre owned JAPANESE RARE RARE RARE FENDER  Made In Japan 1987 CONTEMPORARY BLACK FACED STRATOCASTER GUITAR finished in OLY WHITE.THESE Contemporay Strats WERE BUILT BETWEEN 1984 and 1987, IN JAPAN, in the FUJI-JEN GAKKI Plant.The Guitar also Comes with the Original Whammy bar which is a Rarity in itself!This guitar is what is referred to as the "Unknown Model"   in Fabulous ORIGINAL condition. Made In Japan and Serial number E 790353 stamped on the front of the headstock. This is an example of the Contemporary "Unknown model" which features One Humbucker (ORIGINALLY Made by Schaller but here replaced with a Seymour Ducncan, and two Fuji Gen single coil Alnico Pickups, 5 position selector switch and 1 x Volume and 1 x TBX tone control (Treble Bass Expander) fitted onto an 11 hole , single ply scratch plate side mounted jack socket.Fender (Made by Schaller) System 1 Trem Unit with Schaller locking nut, 22 fret Rosewood Fretboard, 25.52 scale length. During the 1980's, Fender made many super high quality Strats, Teles and Squiers in Japan. Fender had 7 specific guitar models that had the system 1 tremolos installed on them. All 7 guitar models shared basically the same specs across the board. All had a 25.5 scale length except the model 27-5500 which had a 25.74 scale length neck, and all had 22 fret, rosewood or maple fretboards with a 12" radius. The 12 models that sported all the System I, II and III Tremolos were as follows:27-5700: 2 single coil and 1 humbucker pickups, 5 position selector switch, coil splitter, 1 volume 1 tbx, system III tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.27-5800: 2 humbucker pickups, 3 position selector switch, coil splitter, 1 volume 1 tbx, system III tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.27-4100: 2 single coil and 1 humbucker pickups, 5 position selector switch, coil splitter, 1 volume 1 tbx, system II tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.27-4200: 2 humbucker pickups, 3 position selector switch, 1 volume 1 tone, system I tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.27-4300: 3 single coil pickups, 5 position selector switch, 1 volume 2 tone, system I tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, top mounted output jack.27-4302: 3 single coil pickups, 5 position selector switch, 1 volume 2 tone, system I tremolo, maple fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, top mounted output jack.27-4400: 1 humbucker pickup, 1 volume, system I tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.27-5000: 2 humbucker pickups, 3 position selector switch, coil splitter, 1 volume 1 tbx, system I tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.27-5500: 2 humbucker pickups, 3 position selector switch, coil splitter, 1 volume 1 tbx, system I tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.74" scale length, side mounted output jack.27-5400: 2 humbucker pickups, 3 position selector switch, coil splitter, 1 volume 1 tbx, system I tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.Unknown model : There is also an unknown model number featuring 2 single coil and 1 humbucker pickups, 5 position selector switch, 1 volume 1 tbx, system I tremolo, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, side mounted output jack.    YOU CAN GOOGLE   FENDER MIJ CONTEMPORARY UNKNOWN STRATOCASTER SEE WHAT YOU CAN FIND?!The Fender Contemporary models were the first Fender Japan models to be named Stratocasters! Before that all previous MIJ models were called Fender Squier. The humbucking pickups used in the contemporary models had a DC resistance which is approximately 7.6 K ohms. The single coil pickups used in the contemporary models have a DC resistance which is approximately 5.6 K ohms. The contemporary models that use a tbx tone control use 500 K ohm volume pots and use 0.022uf tone capacitorsThe body is Alder, the Neck is Maple with a Rosewood Fretboad with 22 Frets and Fender Locking Nut system.. The pickups are Alnico not ceramic made by Fuji-Gen. When CBS sold Fender to it's current Owners back in 1984, there was a "Transitional Period" where Fender USA production was very limited. This resulted in Fenders being built , from 1984-87, in Japan and exported to the USA along with left over pre 84 stock being sold.These Contemporaries were part of the E series range. The E serial numbers differ from the other MIJ numbers in that they have the E for "eighties" followed by the next digit indicating the Year of production. In this case, 7 for 1987. This Numbering system was apparently  done to follow the USA format and to export from Japan to sell in the USA.These vintage MIJ Fenders are now widely regarded as some of the best Stratocasters that Fender have EVER built. For this reason and the fact that they feel, play and sound Terrific, these Contemporaries, in all Original condition, are Rare and highly sought after.THIS STRAT IS IN good CONDITION BUT ....DON'T FORGET ..this guitar is 29 years old.
