Gibson TB 2 5 String Conversion c. 1926A really beautiful conversion banjo. Great ring and tone for bluegrass. The man I bought it from said the neck was made by Randy Wood, and it looks like another Randy Wood neck I've seen, including the way the headstock is assembled. Not sure if the Mastertone badge or headstock veneer are from the original neck or recreations, but all is very well done. No hole tone ring, 4 original tuners, arm rest, tailpiece, all hardware except 5th string tuner appear to be original. Spann book dates it 1926. Unique diamond flange of this era, not used for very long. Newer Gibson case.Note: I sent an email to Randy Wood to see if he could remember this banjo or identify his work...I'll post the reply if I get one.
