A very fine German 4/4 certified violin bow made by Otto Hoyer ca. 1920.
Otto Hoyer was an excellent bow maker who worked for several years with Sartory. William Henley has described bows made by this maker as "Artist bows of exquisite workmanship and design. Strength and elasticity happily combined." This is particularly fine example in perfect condition made in personal style.
The stick is superb dark red brown pernambuco, round, strong and flexible with a finest balance and a first class concert sound. The length of the stick is 73.2 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g. It comes with a new fine hair, silver winding and grip, ready to play. This bow will be sold with an insurance appraisal for the value of $6,500.
