Welcome to my auction.For sale I have a well cared for and maintained, one of a kind color (Mellon Collie Blue) LEFTY ESP 1985 Custom Shop Phoenix 1 model electric guitar. Please note: I had this guitar Professionally refinished from it's original (trans red color) by one of the top finish guys at the spray booth during my time at PRS Guitars in 2001. It is the most perfect refinish paint job I have ever seen on a guitar. The finish is nice and thin so you can see the wood grain thru the finish when held on an angle in the light. At that same time I also had the guitar refreted by Philtone Guitar Co. back when he also worked at PRS. After playing the guitar for many years this guitar was gutted and rebuilt with the finest hardware and electronic components. This was a guitar design that Gibson was too happy to sue for copyright infringement. This was the very 1st design that was a dead ringer for a Gibson Firebird with the exception of a Floyd Rose trem system more less. The headstock shape was quickly changed to the "pointed" version we all know of today. The original Phoenix was only produced by ESP for about a year or two. Gibson won the lawsuit and the Phoenix model was deleted from their guitar line. This guitar comes from my smoke free, climate control and humidified home. Important fact! (I am the original purchaser of this guitar) and I have owned it for 30 years). I bought it way back when ESP had a shop in New York City in the mid to late '80s. This guitar is a strong (10 out of 10 Flawless) condition and plays beautifully with low action. This guitar has been Pleked by Philtone Guitar Co. Baltimore MD. Below is the list of the custom appointments and hardware. Also worth noting; I met Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman of Slayer in 1992 when the guitar was still trans red and had them sign the inside of the case (See Photo #11). This was back when Kerry was a (short lived) ESP endorser. Custom refinished in nitro, Mellon Collie Blue.Body is constructed of Mahogany wings and 3 piece laminated maple neck thru design.Rosewood fingerboard with Mother of Pearl Crown inlayed position markers. Gotoh Vintage TunersNeck Through ConstructionOriginal Floyd Rose Tremolo Bridge system.Seymour Duncan (JB) Bridge pickup, and Seymour Duncan (Jazz) Neck pickup.Controls: Vol, Tone w/ (push/pull) a 3 way toggle switch and mini switch.
