MESA/BOOGIE 4x12 4YB HALF BACK SLANT CABINETI bought this awesome speaker cabinet in 1996 from Sound Control in Newcastle. According to the salesman it was custom built for Scottish band The Almighty, but they never collected it due to disbanding. The only difference from
the standard 280watt combination is the unique speaker configuration. The top right speaker is a G12H-100 instead of the usual pair of MC-90s. The G12H-100 has more low end and mids while the MC-90 has a brighter, crisper sound, not a vast difference but useful for stereo miking. The bottom pair are standard issue Mesa Boogie VS-12s, made for Mesa Boogie by Eminence, these are also known as Eminence Vintage 50s.This is Mesa Boogies 80s to 90s (pre-rectifier) 4x12 design, as you can see from the cool metal grill. Half back refers to the half open, half closed design. The combination of the tight, focused bass sound from the closed bottom and the better dispersion and more combo-like sound of the open top make for a thunderingly powerful but well balanced speaker sound. Many have called this the best sounding cab ever, I would agree, of course. The cab comes with it's own very useful removable castors and when these are removed it stands on 4 sturdy, shock absorbing and non slip rubber feet. The construction of this speaker is pretty much bomb proof but I have always transported it in a sturdy flight case, so it still looks very well for a 20 year old 4x12. I'll throw in the case for an extra £50. The flight case itself actually belonged to Status Quo originally, I'm not sure if that's a selling point or not, but I still think they're great! •Speakers: Top Right Celestion G12H-100
Top Left Celestion Black Shadow MC-90
Bottom 2xMesa Boogie VS-12 (Eminence Vintage 50)•Power Handling: 290 watts•Connections: 2 x 4ohms 1/4” jack sockets for stereo or bi-amping
1 x 8ohms 1/4” jack socket for mono use•Height:
