Description Brand: GIBSON Dexterity: Right-Handed Series: LES PAUL Exact Year: 1974 MPN: SERIAL NUMBER 140130 String Configuration: 6 String Model: Custom Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Body Type: Solid MAHOGANY
The original pickup covers were installed on these pickups and they were potted in a mix of 20% bees wax and 80% paraffin wax.It has the transition neck tenon. The pick guard is the original that I had RANDY RHOADS engraved at an old school trophy engraving shop. The strap locks are Schaller and have been worn to look aged.
The pots have been replaced with a RS Guitar Works Premium electronics kit. It has the modern black caps.
The bridge was replaced with a locking Faber aged gold bridge. The stop tail piece has been replaced with a locking Faber aged gold stop tail piece. The Faber bridge and tail piece are amazing and a HUGE improvement! I replaced the bridge studs with stainless steel studs. The bridge and tail piece are solid as a rock and really improve the tone.
NO NECK BREAKS OR BODY CRACKS. ONLY FINISH CHECKING. SERIAL NUMBER 130140.
The pickups have been replaced with an MC-102B Custom set from ThroBak, made in Kalamazoo Mi on the very same machines that the original PAFs were made. This is a $550.00 set. The neck pickup has the long A4 magnet and measures 7.6k and the bridge has the long A4 magnet and measures 9.1k.I do not have the original T-top pickups. The ThroBaks are a big improvement in tone compared to the originals.
This guitar is a relic and looks amazing, it has aged naturally with finish checking all over it.It weighs 10lbs. 4oz. with all of the Brass parts which add quite a bit of weight.Lastly and most important.. This guitar plays incredible, like a old friend. The ThroBak pickups and Faber bridge/tailpiece put this guitar over the top. If you look online people are selling '74 LPC Randy conversions for crazy money and the aged Reissues are outrageous as well. I think for all of the time, money and love put into this guitar this is a more than fair price.
