Up for sale, a 1982 Fender Bullet in excellent, 100% original condition and perfect working order. Designed early in the career of famed Fender Custom Shop master builder John Page, the Bullet was created to provide a quality, toneful guitar at a price point reachable by beginners and working musicians alike. With a Tele-esque body and headstock shape, and Strat-like volume knob and pickup selector placement, the Fender Bullet immediately feels familiar. Plugged in, there is plenty of spank and chime in all pickup positions, while always having a slight mid-scoop and tight low end. The Bullet Standard was produced only for a few short years, and this well cared for and completely stock example is resonant and particularly lightweight at only 7lbs even. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this guitar plays well with low action and fresh 10-46 nickel strings. The maple neck features a slim C profile that feels fast, with a smooth gloss finish, 1 5/8" nut width, and a full 25 1/2" scale. The maple fretboard retains the original fretwire, which is virtually flawless with well rounded crowns. The frets retain their full, original height, and the guitar plays cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. The headstock sports the silver star Bullet logo, single string tree, and a set of original Schaller-made Fender "F" tuners that turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The body features a Dakota Red finish and white metal pickguard/bridge combo which provides great shielding for the single coils. The pickups are identical to those used on the very last Fender Mustangs and Dan Smith era Strats, and the tone is instantly familiar, with original cream covers that conceal the pole pieces. The electronics are untouched, with original solder joints and CTS pots that date to 1982. Cosmetically, this guitar is in fantastic shape, with one moderate size ding on the bass side lower bout edge, and some minor scuffing on the side in that relative area. There is also one tiny paint chip on the edge of the metal pickguard near the jack, and a light scuff on the side near the pickguard's southernmost edge. These painted pickguards have historically been fairly quick to show wear, and it's a testament to how well-kept this guitar has been over the past 30+ years that the guard is as clean and minty as it is. Overall, this guitar is stunningly clean, and would be a great option for anybody looking to grab a unique and fairly rare vintage USA made Fender!A gigbag is included.
