If you are looking for that vintage "beauty of the burst*" project ingredient and require a period correct old grown wood this might be just the IDEAL billet for your deep dish carved top re-top or conversation! You are looking at a "bench mark piece" from my own Private Stock Collection with 3 dimensional figuring with dense rippled curl on it's 2 face & the 2 sides"- .............Up for bid is for one (1) premium, tight and dense rippled curl pattern, slab sawn cut, old growth Eastern Maple (acer rubrum) electric guitar luthier billet. This has excellent chatoyance with excellent figuring! Excellent growth ring complimented by an excellent tap tone!!!!!Ideal for those that want an ideal period top for an LP conversion or a re-top! LP single-cut outline (non cut-away) on the one face to show fit and size. LP single-cut halve outline ("A" & "B" side) for fit and visual reference. There are some pale gray spots towards the outside corner (visible in the photo's), an outside corner edge void where a branch knot use to be and some spots of gray mineral streaks. There are some planer blade tear-outs/chip out on the one side edge- after surface clean up, it should net a generous workable 6-7/8" width. Dimensions (approximate):20-3/16" long x 7" wide x 1.795" thick. Old grown/seasoned (10-11 percent moisture content). Slab sawn cut. Sapwood. Will require a fine jointer planeing on the faces so that it is flat with an even thickness prior to book-matching. This will need properly acclimation to your shop prior to fabrication. Clear shellac/denatured alcohol mixed applied to the surface to help show color, grain and figure (if any). Photographed with exterior natural lighting conditions. Ends sealed with Anchor seal.
