It has been brought to my attention that the pickguard shown in my original listing is not correct---I have since located the correct original pickguard and it is shown in these updated photos here. I DO promise that this pickup works fine or I will refund 100% no problem. Here is a whole Charlie Christian Pickup assembly including pickguard and mounting screws for an original Vintage Gibson Charlie Christian pickup that was taken from a 1979 or 1980 Gibson ES-175 CC Charlie Christian Model arch top electric guitar. I bought this pickup assembly about 30 years ago to mount in an arch top guitar and the project never happened and I never used it, and it sat in a box all this time. It's in great shape cosmetically and as you can see there are almost no pick scratches on the top of the pickup cover. It measures 2.46 ohms which is right on spec for this model of pickup based on what I see other custom pickup makers wind their custom made CC pickups (Lollar 2.9 ohms and Duncan 2.5 ohms). For me, this is the Holy Grail of jazz pickups and the ultimate Jazz guitar sound. Used by Guitar greats like Barney Kessell, Tal Farlow, Hank Garland, Mundell Lowe, Danny Gatton and of course Charlie Christian. Nothing compares with that warm Woody sound these pickups speak. Danny Gatton's idea to install one of these in a Fender Telecaster neck position was genius, and this kind of single coil cobalt steel pickup was the inspiration for the development of the pickups that Danny and Joe Barden developed for Danny's Fender Telecaster.Tom PrincipatoPS this pickup assembly would not work if you tried to install it in a Fender Telecaster---the long bar magnets underneath the pickup have to stay in tact for the Pickup to operate. This assembly is for installing in an arch top guitar.
