Description
I'm listing a bunch of stuff from my dad's collection, he has tons of stuff that he use to sell on e bay but no longer has the time. He is very knowledgeable so did the description for this stuff. So here it is, this is a super rare piece! This is a late 40s two channel RCA tube pre amplifier with one output, the MI number is 10221C. I've only owned one other of these and it sounded amazing. This is the predecessor of the RCA OP6 but it has a way better build quality plus it has a presence eq on each channel! So the eq on each channel is so cool and sounds really great because it is very musical. It has a 5 position switch that adds varying degree of high end which is amazing on vocals. As cool as the eq is you can't miss the fact that there is a build in RCA KN-1A microphone that was used for talk back, really amazing. It has It takes RCA 1620 tubes which is the low noise low microphonics long lasting version of the 6J7. It has three huge input transformers that are slightly larger than UTC HA 100 transformers and a nice big output plus a huge coil that is used for the eq. This piece is all original and in amazing condition, it has seen very little to no use and has a full schematic inside the case. It was a spare from a old school studio and had been used only when extra pre amps were needed. I got it without the original power supply but it will work with any tube supply of 250-300 and 6.3/12 volts DC. Being all original it still has the original big Cannon mic input connectors and power connectors, I'm including two original cannon connectors for microphone input with the unit, I don't have the cannon connectors for the power but they are available on e bay for about $10 each. I used this in my studio about 15 years ago before I put it in storage. It sounded really amazing, super detailed with fantastic low and high end! It had loads of punch as well, and was unbeatable for vocals guitars and bass. It really will sound amazing on anything. I haven't tested it since I don't have a power supply for it and it should definitely be checked over as the caps are original and over 75 years old! This is a very rare piece and an amazing sounding pre amp that you probably wont find for sale again anytime soon especially in this type of collectors condition. Measurements are 12 by 11 by 9 inches and is very heavy.
On Oct-16-16 at 19:28:55 PDT, seller added the following information:I realized thanks to another e bayer that I didn't mention that this piece will require and external power supply of 6.3 and 280 volts DC. as you may be able to tell as it has connections for external power. Please feel free to ask questions.
