The ASAT Classic features the timeless layout and pickup configuration of Leo Fender's groundbreaking Telecaster®, and important updates including individual brass bridge saddles, and specially design Magnetic Field Design pickups.

Good ones have a lovely bell-like tone, but compress easily. And bad ones are just dark and lifeless. So if you're looking for all the good and none of the bad, the ASAT Classic pickup is a nice surprise. Full up, it's clean, bold, with a very even response across the spectrum. It can punch like a P90, but is cleaner and midrange heavy. Roll off the volume just a tad and the classic round, slightly hollow Tele neck tone appears, but with better clarity and less compression. It's really the sweet spot for this pickup and it's great both for rhythm and lead work. Using mild distortion yields a very musical, slightly crunchy sound with great note definition: The kind of tone you can use practically on any song. Cranking it up with more gain produced great chunk with tons of tight bass, and a creamy top end.The ASAT Classic bridge pickup is a Jeykyll/Hyde affair. Played clean it is sparkly with plenty of twang on tap, with less ice and brittleness of a traditional Tele® bridge pickup. There is more midrange and body than a Tele pickup, and overall its richer and more usable, but with all the vintage flavors packed in there. Add your favorite gain pedal and this pickup becomes an awesome classic rock machine with gobs of overtones, harmonic complexity, and great sustain aided by the string-through body and brass saddles. It's truly great lead pickup; more articulate than a humbucker, and enough bottom end to lay down tight defined rhythms. Using the Sparkle Drive accentuates the classic Tele twang with just enough grit to land you squarely in Brad Paisley/Brent Mason territory. Add more gain and you've got a classic rock wolf in sheep's clothing. Remember, most of the early Led Zeppelin was all on a Telecaster, so with the ASAT you can play hard rock...or a square dance.Standard on all ASAT guitars is G&L's Modern Classic neck. The Modern Classic blends a slightly wider nut width with G&L's Slim C profile, and a 9.5" radius fretboard. The wider nut reduces the chance of string falloff, and the slimmer profile and 9.5" radius keeps the extra width from feeling cumbersome. G&L put a lot of thought into the shape and finishing of this neck, and if any profile could be all things to all people, this one comes very close.This is a deceptively versatile guitar, and its ability to flow from country twang to jazz, blues, funk and killer rock crunch makes it hard to put down. Who would have guessed that two pickups and a slab of wood could be so much fun? The ASAT Classic combines classic looks, flawless finish, and outstanding flexibility.
