Description
Ukulele Type: Tenor Items Included: Case

An extraordinary leap forward from the lovely Peter Jacobs of Turnpike Guitars and Ukuleles. Based in Weymouth, his latest batch of Tenors are beautiful in every respect - choice cuts of top quality woods (locally sourced where possible), extremely high quality of workmanship, and the best sound for the money at £600.What you do have to bear in mind is that with any artisan made instrument, it is very difficult to achieve the high level of finish that a factory would be able to achieve - so please expect small flaws in the finish. Nothing major, but small cosmetic things. Console yourself with the thought that if they were finished to the highest standard as well as built to the highest standard you would be spending over £1000 as the finishing is the longest and most time consuming part of the work! Now, these are all about the sound. And rich, loud and ringing they are too. The necks are superbly comfortable in the hand, and very easy to fret on owing to the slinky profile and 38mm nut width. The enlightened builder uses a 38mm width to allow fingers to get into the right shapes more easily.Spruce tops are a very known quantity in ukulele building: the response is very immediate, quite punchy, but the sound is fully balanced, so you have crisp trebles, full mids and a lovely rich bass. Strumming never sounds muddy, picking sounds wonderfully clear, and the sustain is very impressive, even whilst playing up at the dusty end. And there is not shortage of volume when you want it - but equally, quiet lyrical playing sounds poised and elegant as well.Quality fixtures and fittings really help get as much sound and character out of the wood as well, such as bone nuts and saddles, and top quality redwood bracing, to help keep those beautiful vibrations going for as long as possible.Spec:Solid Italian Engelmann Spruce top
