These refinements include customized bracing and wood thickness' for each shape to bring out the best tonal qualities of each, animal protein glue adhesive for superb tonal transfer, a thinner gloss finish and groundbreaking Expression System 2 electronics, all packaged together with a refreshed design aesthetic. With the rebirth of the 800 series, Andy Powers, designer/luthier behind these instruments, sought to highlight the distinctive characteristics and unique acoustic voice of each different body shape.The tonally versatile Grand Auditorium body of the 814ce is crafted from a Sitka spruce soundboard that's beautifully complemented by Indian rosewood back and sides. Combined with Advanced Performance bracing with the tone-enhancing Relief Rout, the 814ce has more warmth and a looser, more luxurious low end than ever before. The 814ce offers a huge range of expression for a variety of styles. It has the balance, warmth and articulation perfect for fingerstyle but also has the punch needed for strumming chords and enough top-end power for leads. For a beautiful glossy luster without sacrificing tonal response, the body of the 814ce is all dressed up in a 3.5 mils full-gloss finish that's over 40 percent thinner. A smooth venetian cutaway offers a comfortable access to the higher frets.The neck of the Taylor 814ce is topped off with a light-marbled ebony fingerboard.
