As parlour guitars are becoming more popular, unusual vintage examples are becoming more desirable. This Oscar Schmidt instrument has a beautifully figured all Koa body with classy but understated rope binding and rosette. It features a Mahogany neck, Ebony bridge and even the ‘Hawaiian Guitar’ label is in tact. Because of the label and the excellent condition of the fretboard, I’m guessing that it once had a high nut installed for slide playing. Other than that the guitar seems to be in all original condition, with no cracks or repairs, just some caramel like bubbling on the neck. Tonally the guitar has quite a deep sound, very smooth and surprisingly loud for it’s size. The neck feels comfortable and the action is easy to play. As well as being a lovely guitar in it’s own right, it would work really well in a studio situation or be a fantastic travel guitar. It has an underside pickup installed and comes in a non original hard case. To see higher definition pictures of this guitar please go to glennsguitars.com
