This No Reserve auction, is for a vintage 1962 Slingerland # 153 "Artist" model snare drum.I cannot stress how special this drum is, the original black beauty pearl finish is extremely rare, and these older one-ply Artist model snare drums are hard to find. This drum was manufactured in Chicago, Illinois, and it has a serial number of # 12909 on the Slingerland Black/Copper badge.The shell measures 5-1/2" deep x 14" wide, and is made up out of a single ply of solid maple. The interior is reinforced with twin solid-maple support rings, and is factory finished in a gorgeous honey colored maple.The exterior is factory wrapped in Slingerland " BLACK BEAUTY PEARL". The original pearloid wrap is not discolored or changed with age, it is tightly adhered to the shell, and it has a gorgeous, high gloss shine to it. There are no modifications to this drum, and the original factory bearing edges are perfectly preserved.This drum is factory equipped with eight Slingerland " Sound King " lug casings, two solid-brass triple-flanged Slingerland "Stick-Saver" hoops, 16 Slingerland tension rods, a Slingerland " Zoomatic " throwoff and butt plate, and a Slingerland internal muffler assembly. All of the parts are brilliantly chrome plated, and as you can see from my pictures, the chrome plated parts are in amazing condition! This drum is equipped with an original set of factory original Slingerland "Zoomatic" strap-on snare wires. These are a special set, specifically made to fit the Zoomatic strainer system. A brand new EVANS clear snare-side bottom head has been installed, but the top batter head is an original Slingerland Concert model drum head.
