You are enjoying a Sunn 2000S vintage tube bass amplifier in excellent working order. The brainchild of Norm Sundholm, bass player for the Kingsmen, and his brother Conrad, the Sunn Company was birthed out of the need for gear that reproduced powerful, rich clean tones that could compete on the world's largest stages (not the least of which was Woodstock, where Sunn supplied the backline). The Sunn 2000S led that charge in the bass world, and the hi-fi clarity and sweet warmth of this all tube bass head is oft-copied but rarely replicated. With absolutely massive transformers and a dual rectified four 6550 powered circuit, this 2000S head powers large speaker cabinets (2x15”, 4x12”) and particularly sound great with original JBL D140F 15" drivers Sunn used in their cabinets. These highly efficient and powerful speakers are in indispensable part of the Sunn sound, and the thick, clear low end reproduced by these speakers is legendary in the bass world. The list of Sunn bass amp users is prolific and includes Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, John Entwistle, and Noel Redding. This 2000S head has been freshly serviced as it had been sitting for years. It contains RCA & Fayette 7426 tubes which are in good working order. Caps were still good and note that the original 2-prong plug is still on this head. The tubes are two matched pairs of 7426s which have been properly biased for optimal headroom and life. While the transformers and both chokes are original. Both the head and cabinet retain their original hardware including handles, corners, and casters. Cosmetically, this head has been thoroughly cleaned from its long nap, but one can still see light residual dirt on the chassis from age, and mild aging of the grillcloth. The tolex covering and handle are in great shape. Finally, please note some browning on the front panel of the amp and some normal aging of the original knobs. This head is massive, classic, and ready to head back out on the road or find a home in the studio! This Sunn 2000S All Tube Bass Amplifier Head is a used item in VG+ condition. Any of the general issues are listed above. Buyer should also note that the rear panel is a homemade replacement as the original was lost or broken years ago. This panel is basically a cord winder for the power cord. There is some wear and paint chips showing on this panel. All are pictured. If you need specific pictures, please let us know.
