This is a very rare and beautiful USA-built black Steinberger GL2 hardtail guitar. The hardtail models were the first 6-string guitars produced at the Steinberger factory in Newburgh, N.Y. These models were only produced for a very short time. Once the new TransTrem design was completed, virtually every guitar built featured the new TT tremolo. This guitar was just fully restored and set-up by Jeff Babicz, who was the former head of production at the Steinberger Sound factory in Newburgh, N.Y. Jeff refretted the neck and mirror-polished the frets, cleaned and lubricated the bridge and completely serviced the electronics, so the guitar now performs perfectly. Many Steinberger afficiandos feel that the original GL hardtails have the finest tone and sustain characteristics of any of the GL series. This is a beautiful and superb playing guitar that's just been restored by the world's top Steinberger tech, and is now ready for the next 25 years of service. It's complete except for the "always missing" pop-out legrest. This Steinberger GL2 hardtail guitar will ship in its original Steinberger black gig-bag with a new black cotton strap, an extra set of strings, and a copy of Jeff's work-order.
