ITEM DESCRIPTION The adjectives traditionally used to describe cymbal sounds - terms like solid chick, dark, crisp, bright, complex tonality, clear stick definition, plenty of wash - don't begin to do justice to the unique acoustic nature of Spizz cymbals. Each one is a totally individual instrument; no two will ever sound exactly the same. But each one represents the heritage of a singular and remarkable craftsman who would never settle for anything less than the best.
Spizz 14" hi hats feature a bottom cymbal that's only slightly heavier than the top cymbal - with both being significantly thinner than most other hi-hat models today. This gives them a relatively warm, breathy response, a very nice midrange tonality, and a sweet, shimmery top end. They have a clear but not overpowering chick sound when closed with the foot, while sticking articulation on the top cymbal is clear and distinct (especially great for swing-style ride patterns). The cymbals' light weight also lets them produce a terrific half-closed washy sound that's always musical rather than abrasive.MY TAKE ON IT/RECOMMENDATIONS The Spizz name - and price tag - are polarizing, no question. But at the end of the day, the fact remains that these are truly great sounding cymbals.
