Description

Putting these up for the vintage collector who might remember these from 30 years ago,  I'd like to keep them together.  I bought them as a set in Chicago around 1988 - 1990?  My first session was to mic an entire drum kit with these three mics.  I had no idea what I was doing but it turned out to be one of my best recorded drum sessions ever...  I think I stuck the 1000 out in front of the drums and hung the 50's overhead.  I remember being blown away by the clarity compared to the AKGD1000 and SM57's we used back in the day.    These are EV's top of the line condenser microphones from the 1980's and early 90's.   These mic's retailed for $999 for the RE1000 and $699 each for the RE50.   They were my first high end mic purchases when I first got in to recording using the ADAT.   They've been well loved but my mic collection has grown to over 50 high-end microphones.  It's time to thin the herd.   Both models are excellent condenser mics.   I've used the RE50's in dozens of live settings for vocals, acoustic instruments and even drum overheads.   They're rugged, easy to dial in and sound phenomenal.  If you need bulletproof condenser mics, these are as good as they come.   The RE1000 is an excellent vocal mic for studio use.  Its obviously modeled after the classic AKG C414.   It was actually more expensive than a 414 back in the day.   It's tight hypercardioid pattern makes it one of the few dedicated condenser mics that works really well when mic'ing a specific voice or instrument in a full band setting.    I've had beautiful results doing male vocals with it.   It's hard to make this mic sound bad.  They're 100% US made in Buchanan, Michigan.  They really don't make them like this anymore.  I've always been impressed with EV's mics and speaker cabinets as some of the best sounding gear available.  These live up the EV name.
