Gibson Les Paul Custom 2016 Wine Red Die modernen Les Paul-Modelle basieren auf denen aus der Mitte der Fünfziger Jahre, aber sie haben natürlich ein paar moderne Ausstattungsdetails. Der Mahagoni-Korpus wird zum Beispiel an strategischen Stellen angebohrt und mit Löchern versehen, um das Gewicht zu reduzieren. Das verbessert auch den Klang, diese Paulas haben etwas mehr Resonanz. Die gewölbte Decke ist natürlich nach wie vor handgeschnitzt und aus geflammtem Ahorn. Der einteilige Hals ist aus Mahagoni und hat immer noch eine Mensurlänge von 628 mm. Darauf befindet sich ein Richlite-Griffbrett mit 22 Bünden, Block-Einlagen aus Perlmutt und abgerundeten Kanten. Pickup-mässig hat diese Gitarre einen Gibson 490R in der Hals-Position, was dem Klang-Charakter der originalen PAF's entspricht. In der Bridge befindet sich ein 498T, der den Alnico II Magneten gegen einen Alnico V austauscht, was eher die Mitten und Höhen betont und insgesamt knackiger klingt. Die weitere Ausstattung umfasst die legendäre Nashville Tune-O-Matic Bridge und ein Stopbar Tailpiece, Tuner mit Tulpengriffen aus Metall sowie ein mehrlagiges schwarz-weißes Binding auf der Decke und am Boden, vergoldete Hardware.
