Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome . You are looking at a somewhat rare 1952 American DR-330 dynamic omni-directional ribbon microphone with multi impedance settings made in Pasadena, California complete with a period American desk stand, cable, receipt and box. This unique and elegantly designed microphone was produced as a studio microphone and has adjustable multi Z settings under the American badge. You simply have to uncrew the badge and decide what sound you are looking for. it's currently on Low Z and sounds very nice with a strong signal. I would be very surprised if this mic still has the original ribbon but it looks stock to me. The DR-330 had a fairly short run compared to many of the other American microphones and was probably manufactured for about 15 years total. It has a beautiful two tone finish that was a unique signature of the American Microphone Company. As you can see the gold finish has a nice luster and shows almost no wear at all. The black lower portion shows some very fine scratches and a scuff marks up front on the lower corner but is free of any dents or fractures and the badge looks very nice. There is no missing hardware and the mic is solid inside and out. The joint mechanism has lots of tension too getting just the right angle needed. The best part is that she still works. The ribs are straight with zero fractures. She'll make a very unique and beautiful display piece anywhere in the home, office or studio if you choose not to use it. These DR-330 mics takes the modern and standard female XLR cable. The original 20 foot cable is included that works great for this mic giving it a very firm and snug fit. The cable is soft, pliable and free of any damage. It has a standard chrome plated Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most modern audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers. You'll notice in pic # 8 the original box is included. It does show wear but works and pads the mic perfectly while not in use. Locking mechanism works on the box as intended. Also included is the original receipt of sale from 1952. You don't see too many of those around. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...  It's an equally rare American horseshoe crab style desk stand and it looks really nice matched up with the mic. This stand was used with a whole variety of American microphones.  I can honestly say that I don't know the model # is as there are no obvious stamp marks or decals and my microphone encyclopedia's don't tell me though they are shown with all the American brand mics. They were only manufactured for about 10 or 15 years too so you don't see many around.  The stand itself is quite heavy weighing in at just over 2 pounds and it's built like a tank. The cast metal base has a very unique design that American was often known for. The original paint shows wear but it's still too nice to repaint as the patina just adds character. The 4 inch riser / stem allows for any American and most Japanese screw on mics to be mounted and there is a small screw used to tighten the brass screw to get your mic to line up just right on the base. The base has 4 new pads to keep this stand from scratching any surface it may sit on. The dimensions of the stand are appx 7 inches deep X 5 inches wide X 3 inches tall. This is perfect for the old DR-330 because of it's wide, stable base and manufacture date (being early 50's). This stand is an easy 7 on a scale of 10. If you demand rare and a working DR-330 that you can use for any live event...this is your girl. As with all my vintage items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
