Il modello P-45 è dotato di una tastiera graded hammer standard (GHS). Il tocco della tastiera si modifica gradualmente a seconda del registro, in modo che il tocco sia più pesante nei registri gravi e più leggero nei registri acuti. Lo strumento dispone inoltre di una tastiera dal tocco naturale, con tasti neri dotati di finitura opaca per garantire un tocco analogo a quello di un pianoforte acustico. P-45 è stato rinnovato utilizzando la sintesi AWM al fine di produrre suoni piano autentici. AWM è una tecnologia che utilizza le registrazioni digitali delle sorgenti e permette di apprezzare in qualsiasi luogo il riverbero caratteristico di un pianoforte a coda. Affusolato e ricco di stile, con una profondità inferiore a 30 cm, lo strumento necessita di poco spazio, e con solo 11.5 kg di peso – con l’altoparlante collegato – esso può essere spostato facilmente o utilizzato per le performance fuori casa. Diverse impostazioni del P-45 possono essere modificate attraverso un singolo tasto. Tenendo premuto il tasto "GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION" e toccando la tastiera è possibile modificare il timbro, riprodurre sorgenti demo, configurare il metronomo e molto altro.
