For sale is an exceptional semi-hollow body guitar from Gibson. This is the infinitely recognizable and truly iconic ES-335, seen played by the likes of Eric Clapton, Larry Carlton, Alvin Lee and many other legendary guitarist. This particular 335 was manufactured in the period of deep frustration as far as dating goes, but we have come to the conclusion that it was made in 1968 in Gibson's Kalamazoo factory. This guitar is in good condition for its age, with finish checking across the body, a few surface scratches across the top and back but surprisingly no buckle rash. There are dings and dents around the sides of the guitar as well, a few bigger than others but nothing of much note. The binding is intact, with some shrinkage but not a whole lot. There is a small binding crack right next to the nut on the treble side of the neck. Tonally this guitar is absolutely sweet, with incredible note expression and harmonic bloom that leaves nothing whatsoever to be desired. The neck pickup is round and robust but not too bass heavy, it has a lot of note definition throughout chords and jumps out of the mix when playing single notes. The bridge has a serious punch and flare to it, and when pushing an amp you can get the singing tones of the 60's that made so many of the players of these guitars household names. The fit and feel of this guitar is excellent, with a thin neck that fits the hand well and makes this an incredibly fast playing instrument. It weighs in at 7 lbs. 14 oz. which is a great balanced weight and it is incredibly well balanced on a strap. Included with this guitar is a really great fitted hardshell case. This instrument is not only a piece of history, but an immensely usable and fantastic sounding tool that has unparalleled tone and will only continue to get sweeter with age.
