Phenomenal as new and unplayed, 2016 Limited Edition Mike McCready Signature Aged 1959 Les Paul Standard.
Gibson Custom Shop has outdone itself paying homage to two legendary guitarist with this very special limited run true historic reissue. This is number 46 of only 100 made worldwide.The guitar was originally purchased in the late 60's from a Seattle pawn shop by Jim Anderson, lead guitarist in Van Morrison's band "Them". In his time, Jim was voted third best guitarist in the world behind Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. He continued to play the guitar for decades with his own band, and as a sought after studio musician. In the 90's the guitar was sold again in Seattle, this time to Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready. It has been on tour with him now for the past couple decades earning a spot as one of Mike's trusted favorites. Mike graciously allowed the good folks at Gibson in Nashville full access to the original, and the result is an absolute work of art. Nearly 60 years of touring and heavy aging have been painstakingly recreated by the master craftsman and luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop. Even the case has been aged to match the guitar. Built on the true historic spec's introduced in 2014 that set the new standard for historic accuracy and the return to the original vision Les Paul had for his iconic guitar from the beginning. Solid mahogany body with two piece flamed maple top finished in a perfectly faded Burst, rosewood fretboard, aged period correct hardware, including the addition of Grover Rotomatic tuners. Custom Bucker pickups and hide glued long tenon neck and top.As expected, the guitar plays like a dream with exceptional resonance and sustain. Soaring highs, warm and woody mids, and very articulate bottom.
Bends beautifully up and down the entire length of the neck.
