Used to create some of the most legendary Gibsons of all time, the rare and elegant, Korina wood (also known as African limba). Considered by most experts to be a “super mahogany” or “mahogany deluxe,” Korina wood bears a strong resemblance to mahogany in both tone and grain characteristics. Those same experts also agree that Korina has a sweeter midrange, with enhanced responsiveness, which would seemingly make it more desirable as a guitar-making wood.possesses some similarities to mahogany, particularly in its warmth and resonance, but it also yields degrees of clarity, definition, and sustain that are all its own. It is a fine-grained wood that is lighter in weight and color than mahogany and is considered by luthiers to be slightly brighter and sweeter in tone, but somewhat more difficult to work with. Built in the CUSTOM SHOP to the highest standards of quality. The Les Paul Custom has all of the ingredients for good tone. The solid Korina body features a maple top for a good balance of lows and highs. The one piece Korina neck features an ebony fingerboard with fancy pearl block inlays. 490R and 498T humbuckers deliver that trademark Les Paul crunch. A Stopbar tailpiece and Tuneomatic bridge team up with Grover tuners for rock solid performance. The whole package is finished in Cherry red lacquer and set off with gold hardware. The Cherry Red on this example is brighter than Gibsons 2Wine Red" of the past. More like a classic cherry red. Very nice look! Nothing plays, sounds or looks like a Les Paul Custom!This Les Paul plays and sounds great. The neck is straight and the action is low. The pickups and electronics sound great. Very versatile. This guitar is in Near Mint condition. Very Little playtime and showing only the slightest wear. As clean or cleaner than other examples for its year.
