Up for sale, a 2000s Greco EGS-180F flame top LP Special in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This rare and discontinued model is a unique twist on the Les Paul Special design, pairing an African mahogany back and neck with a figured flame maple top. The top is finished to a high gloss sheen that highlights the curls and flames in the maple, and this middle ground between a Special and a Standard delvers the top end cut and articulation of maple, paired with the warmth and richness of mahogany. The stock "P Gang" P-90 pickups are faithfully wound to vintage spec, reading 8.42k ohms in the bridge position and 8.57k at the neck, with plenty of midrange growl, and glassy, articulate top end. Weighing in at only 7lbs 8oz, this Greco is also very easy on the back, and the MojoAxe wraparound compensated tailpiece is both tonally resonant and visually appealing. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 11-50 roundwound strings, this Greco has low, comfortable action and solid intonation.The one-piece African mahogany neck has a medium C shaped profile with very round shoulders that give the profile a substantial feel despite being more slender than a "baseball bat" shape. The slab rosewood fretboard features slender vintage-style fretwire that is virtually flawless, with perfectly rounded crowns and no buzzing or dead spots. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width and the headstock has a unique offset "open book" shape, with pearloid "Greco" script inlay and a set of Kluson-esque Gotoh tuners with aged green tulip buttons.All of the electronics work as they should, and Greco spared no expense on this top-tier model, with full size CTS pots and Orange Drop tone capacitors. The hardware is all stock aside from the upgrade MojoAxe bridge (original bridge also included), and the black plastic parts are all in great shape. Cosmetically, this guitar has an understated look, but actually has quite a bit of figuring and unique grain in the maple top, with a clean bookmatched look, highlighted by the cream binding on the top.
