The guitar listed here was shipped to us directly from PRS. It was never sold and was never on display or played by customers. When it arrived back in 2004 it was inspected, tested and then stored away in its case. Now our experienced professional instrument technician has thoroughly inspected, tested, and adjusted this guitar, as we do with all our instruments, so that it will arrive in the best possible playing condition. I of course had to play it for a couple of minutes in order to evaluate it for you… yes, it’s a tough job but somebody had to do it and this one was a real pleasure for me. We stashed this guitar away because of the rarity of the natural finish, which is now only available as a custom order. This is a true natural finish, not to be confused with a “vintage natural”. So with and this being a special order optional “Quilt Ten Top” and with the natural finish, which means there is no stain to enhance the figure of the wood grain, only a very choice exceptionally figured piece of carved maple can meet the high standards to be rated as a “ten top” and for that reason not a lot of guitars were built in the “natural” finish… and that makes this one special very fine instrument indeed.The beautiful abalone bird inlays on the 24-fret fingerboard are highly colorful, as you can see in the pictures above, actually some of the most beautiful inlays and in this instance the pictures really do not do justice. The solid mahogany neck has the PRS “wide thin” carve, very comfortable easy playing, feels right. The PRS pickups are “HFS” in the bridge and “Vintage Bass” in the neck position, one of my all time favorite PRS pickup combinations… a combination of versatility and delightful tonal capability. The electronics include a volume and tone control along with a PRS 5-position rotary pickup selector which enhances and brings added tonal variety into play. Condition is excellent++ with no issues to report, just what you would expect from an eleven year old guitar that has never been on display or played. This one weighs in at approx 7 lbs 15 oz. The MSRP on a Custom 24 model with a “Ten Top” upgrade option back in 2013 would have been $5,400.00 and in order to get it in this natural finish it would have to be a custom special order as well. Also included is the original PRS hardshell case with all the original case candy… including adjusting wrenches, case keys, warranty card, hangtags, PRS brochures, everything that came with it straight from the factory. Additionally we are providing an extra bit of provenance seldom included and that is the original factory packing slip that we received with the guitar when PRS shipped it to us back in April of 2004.
