Mandocello is quite similar to Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster: you often hear about it but rarely can see it, doubting that it even exists... It such an interesting instrument though: tuned in 5th - CGDA - with a .074 gauge on the bass, you get a growling low C, but you can go 2 octave higher on your A string. I'm not a mandolin player but I'm surprised to feel at ease with this instrument. An inspired recreation of a unique specialty instrument from the Golden Age of mandolins. Solid Spruce Top, Solid Highly-flamed Maple back & sides with ebony fingerboard & adjustable ebony bridge. Warm & mellow tones with excellent sound projection.
