Totally Completely Original 1964 Hofner 457 Jazz Guitar with it's Original case all in Excellent condition and hardly played in over 50+ years.
The body has a stamped date of July 63 and the Pot codes numbers are both 250K 234 or 23rd week of 1964.
The pickups are all original and are sealed so haven't been rewound and are still very loud!
The pickguard is also all original and hasn't been swapped out or lost, and the strip tuners keys are all original and in excellent working order also!
Looking at the frets, there doesn't seem to be any wear, so I would say it is mostly unplayed.
The lovely RED /BLACK finish they put out in 63/64 is particularly sort after as is a little bit rare and it has not faded one bit!
There is a little paint damage or bubbling to the paint at the bottom where the tail piece and strap goes, but could be sorted easily if wanted plus is not even shown as is on the side and covered up by the strap.
The case is in unbelievable condition considering it too is over 50 years old. The two straps are new as the others had perished (though I still have the small one complete in two pieces). The catches and handle are mint.
Overall, there are a couple or few marks and scratches on the paintwork if you look closely as it is old, but the neck is solid and the action is very low and a joy to play and to feel and look at!
I would say an easy 8/10 with no repro parts and in gorgeous RED.
