1946 Gibson L-5 Vintage Sunburst Archtop Acoustic Guitar Excellent Cond. Jazz
Estimated price for orientation: 5 950 $
Category: Acoustic Guitars
Class:
Description Exact Year: 1946 Brand: Gibson
Up for sale is a 1946 Gibson L-5 Archtop Acoustic guitar. This exquisite instrument is all original. No cracks, no repairs, no refinishing or overspray. The original sunburst finish is in great condition with normal playwear that you'd expect from a 70 year old instrument with the perfect lacquer checking in all the right places. It's neck is straight and plays beautifully up and down letting each note ring out loudly. It's original tuners hold perfectly and turn smoothly. All inlays from the script and flowerpot headstock logo to the fretboard are in perfect condition. The action is low and sweet with plenty of room to go down on the original bridge. The binding is all original and intact with only a little shrinking by the nut. Other than that, it's perfect and has aged nicely. The Birdseye flamed maple neck, back, and sides have an almost 3-D effect. They're insanely beautiful. It is missing the original pickguard and two small screws on the original brass tailpiece but other than that it's all there and completely unmodified. There is a small dent under the tailpiece, but nothing bad. Please look at the pictures as I've tried to detail every last mark on it. It really is as beautiful as what you see....even more breathtaking in person. Now....THE SOUND!!!! If you bemoan the thin sound from many archtops, even high end, this is the cure. It's loud (I mean LOUD), punchy, and has the most bottom end I've ever heard from an archtop. This is undoubtedly the best sounding acoustic I've ever heard. Natural reverb is there like only the finest Strombergs. This guitar impresses on every level- sound, playability, and looks. There's a good reason these are the stuff of legend. I hate to let it go, but I know it'll make someone a fantastic guitar. US only. Free shipping.
