Serial # W3142Here we have a completely original 1955 Gibson ES 225 in overall superb condition. This guitar has the most comfortable neck I have ever played, on any guitar, over the past 60 years. At the nut, which is 1 & 5/8" wide, the neck has a slim D shaped profile. Moving up, the neck progresses to a chunkier, more rounded, C shape. The width at the 12th fret is 2".The brazillian rosewood fretboard is in perfect shape, as are the frets. The single centrally-mounted P-90, with careful selection of the volume/tone controls produces a rich variety of sounds, all favorable to the Jazz/Blues idiom, so it has it's limitations, but this guitar is unquestionably a brilliant jazz guitar.Given it's wonderful, well- preserved condition, also one for the collectors.I've recently fitted a new set of 10's and set her up with a fairly low action. The intonation has been tweeked and is perfect.Weighs in at a very comfortable 6lbs 8oz.There is quite a bit of checking going on in several places on the table, which you can see highlighted in a couple of the pics. Perfectly normal and acceptable on a 60 year old guitar. I personally like it myself, but I mention it for the benifit of those who don't.The case is a bit of an odd-ball. I'm sure it's not a Gibson case, and I can only imagine that these guitars came into the UK without cases, and this is some sort of early fifties British guitar case, which the music store supplied.Free shipping to the UK only with the Buy it Now price. Will ship Worldwide at cost. Thanks for looking.Foreign import/customs duties applied outside of the UK/EU, are the responsibility of the buyer.
