Up for auction is a lovely 1956 (serial number 48012) Olds Studio tenor trombone. This instrument plays well, and is constructed from a combination of solid nickel silver and yellow brass, giving this horn has a bright, full sound and quick response that make it a very fine lead horn for jazz, or an excellent small bore straight tenor for anyone who needs one. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are several small dings throughout the instrument, mostly on the throat of the bell. There are also some significant scratches on the bell throat and some slight rippling. The slide moves fairly well, and is quite playable, although there are a few imperfections on both the inner and outer tubes. This instrument has had the old lacquer removed, both to improve the appearance of the instrument, as well as its tone. Therefore, this instrument is pure brass, and may have to be polished every few months, if played often.
