Flamenco Negra Guitar by Larry Breslin     Brazilian Rosewood and Bear Claw Englemann Spruce

                   

DESCRIPTION

This flamenco negra was handmade by in 2005.      The soundboard is a beautiful master grade Englemann spruce set with tremendous bear claw figuration.      The back and sides are extremely rare old-growth Brazilian rosewood, pre-convention tone wood that was air dried for several decades.      Side construction features inner Spanish Cypress ribs.      The neck is very old Cuban cedar.      Ebony was used for the fingerboard and all bindings.      The headstock is Brazilian Rosewood.      The "Simplicius 1929" tuning machines are a fine historical reproduction made by in Italy, quality tuners that operate smoothly and accurately.

           

PERFORMANCE

The Engelmann top projects quickly and strongly.      The timbre is rich with clear trebles, punchy middle register and a dark, yet brilliant bottom end. The neck shape is a very comfortable flattened oval design, thin and consistently so from the first position nearly to the 12th. A tapered and bound ebony fingerboard provides very fast action, with high-E set at 2mm and low-E set at 2.75mm on the 12th position. Scale is 650mm.  Nut width is 52mm.

           

CONDITION

The guitar is in near-mint condition with no issues, no cracks or repairs.      It is in original condition with no changes of any kind.      The fingerboard and frets are in excellent shape.      The French polished soundboard and back/side gloss finish are also in great shape.
