This is a handpainted and reliced non-Fender tribute to one of the most valuable and mysterious replicas that the Custom Shop has endeavored to create, the Stevie Ray Vaughan “Number One” Limited Edition. This is physically very similar to Stevie’s original strat in every conceivable way. Every ding, every scratch, every wear pattern, was tirelessly and meticulously recreated from detailed pictures of the original by the UK's premier relic artist. Fender completed a run of 100 guitars in January of 2004. They were only sold to authorized Fender Custom Shop dealers on a lottery basis, so they were instantly impossible to get. They typically sell now for $40,000. This is not one of those but a hand done replica hand painted by one of the UKs premier relic artists Clive Brown. This was crafted from an early 80’s Tokai and totally refinished by master builder Clive Brown, and was numbered with the famous SRV 93702 on the back of the neck plate . The guitar also features date stamps in keeping with the original. On this project in order to duplicate the weight, dimensions, feel, and electronics of the original as closely as possible everything from the string gauge set up was done as it would have been for Stevie on stage. This guitar was even setup as Rene would have set it up for Stevie with heavy strings. The result is one of the most meticulously detailed and stunning Tribute guitars ever made. It does really feel like you’re channeling Stevie Ray Vaughan. Please please note that this is not a Fender guitar but a reliced early 80's Tokai.
