Antique Civil War era top action string rotary Bb Cornet manufactured by John F. Stratton, New York. The instrument tunes to Bb high pitch. The shield on the bell is engraved “John F. Stratton, New York.” This is a very clean instrument will no dents or patches. All valves, valve caps, and slides move freely. The cornet is constructed of raw brass. Valves, valve casings, valve caps, finger levers, and valve cap rings are stamped 22, 23, and 24. The mouthpiece it stamped “1 LEVY MODEL,” KEFER.” The bell diameter is 4 and one half inches and the overall length is around 18 inches. This is a great playing instrument will good compression.
