This listing is for an extremely rare Lifton Gibson Hard Shell Guitar case, that was made in the 1960's.
At 47-1/4" long ( inside ) it was clearly made for a longer guitar such as an ES 335 twelve string or a Trini Lopez Signature Model six string Electric guitar.The case will also fit many other ES 335 type models such as an ES345 Es355 etc. both right hand and left handed RH LH.
A Dave Grohl Signature Model DG ES 335 will also fit.As you can see the case has a beautiful vintage gold ( marigold ) interior with classic black tolex and polished brass type hardware.This is a very high quality Lifton case with an arch top lid as well as an arched back, for added protection.
It was a big case upgrade for a 1964 1965 1966 1967 and 1968 Trini Lopez Model guitar and those guitars often sell for $5000.00 to $7000.00 or more. In fact, a rare Pelham Blue version recently sold for $20,000.00.Because of the longer headstock length on a Gibson ES 335 twelve string and the longer Fender Stratocaster shaped headstock on a Trini Lopez Model, a special case like this is required. A standard ES335 case is to short, so it will not work with the longer headstock models.Like any 50 to 60 year old vintage guitar case, this one is not perfect, but it's still in great shape, especially for being this old. The tolex exterior has several minor scratches, nicks, cuts and tears, that are mainly on the edges. The beautiful vintage marigold interior has some normal wear, but it still looks great and it's very clean.All of the hardware is intact including the hasps hinges and handle etc and everything works fine. The small accessory pocket is intact and so is the lid as well as the satin ribbon pull tab for it. The strap that holds the main lid is also intact. All of the small metal feet on the back as well as the end are still in place and there's also a metal ( bumper ) plate on the very top of the case. The Lifton metal name plate badge is still intact and it's also in great shape.
The badge reads ........" Lifton - Built Like A Fortress - Made In USA " .
In this condition, the Lifton badges alone, often sell for $100 or more.
Since these special cases are longer in length, than a standard ES335 case, they almost always stay with the guitars, so they're extremely rare.
You can't order this case from Gibson, at any price, so grab this one while you can.
Again, the case will work with any right or left handed ES 330 335 345 355 12 String guitar as well as the DG Dave Grohl and Trini Lopez models plus many other ES 335 type guitars.
A standard size ES 335 model 6 string should also work, since those guitars are shorter than the Trini Lopez or Gibson ES 12 String Models.
However, exact guitar sizes do vary so please check the dimensions below to be sure your guitar will fit.These are the approximate measurements between the pads, which will give a little: The width at the lower bout is 16-1/2"
The width at the upper bout is 12"
The width at the waist is 10-1/4"
The overall length is 47-1/4" plus there's a small 1/2" deep pocket at the very end for the lower strap pin.
The depth is about 2-3/4'' and there's another 1-1/2" or so in the lid. Once again, these cases are super rare and if you're lucky enough to have a Gibson guitar you need a factory case, to maintain the maximum value, and protect the investment in your guitar.If you prefer a brand new Gibson case, we also have a beautiful brown one that's also listed on eBay.
