The Backun Alpha Bb Clarinet is the result of years of research and development and the desire to give student clarinetists an affordable instrument that won’t restrict their development. Made from a proprietary synthetic material chosen for its excellent tonal qualities, the Alpha also gives professional players an instrument that they can confidently use for performances where a wooden instrument might not be appropriate.This Alpha is in like-new condition with no wear, and has been meticulously maintained. Spring tension is balanced throughout, pads seal perfectly, and intonation is excellent. In addition to the original Alpha barrel I am also including a Backun MoBa 66+ Cocobolo barrel, selected specifically for this clarinet that gives it the kind of tone and resistance that more advanced players find attractive. As a backup horn or outdoor performance instrument, the Backun Alpha is second to none. I purchased it two years ago to use for those purposes, however I rarely do any more community band our outdoor amphitheater performances these days so I'd rather not have this excellent clarinet just sitting around.A new Alpha with silver-plated keys today will cost you $985, and a Backun MoBa barrel is $231.
