Up for auction is a vintage (serial number 706027) Conn 6D Double French Horn. This instrument was built in Conn's Elkhart factory. It is in very good condition and plays very well. The valves move well with good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are a few small pings and some isolated etching and light scratching throughout the instrument. The bell also has some light wavering in the brass around the flare. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case and a mouthpiece in good condition.How the horn plays: Full, warm and mellow tone; soft sound quality rather than harsh; the Bb side timbre is a bit brighter than the F side; the horn is free blowing and responsive; good dynamic range; low and high registers speak well; very pleasant to playAll horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N.
