Vintage Gibson A-1 A1 Mandolin, est. 1916 S/N 30553, Beautiful Wood & Condition With Original Hardshell Case Used Great condition for its age Vintage Gibson A-1 A1 Mandolin. I would estimate that it was made around 1916 based on research from the "MandolinArchive" website Beautiful Wood & Condition. Serial number is 30553 written in pencil on the inside of the instrument. I have owned this mandolin for approximately forty years. It has been stored in a smoke free environment that has always been temperature controlled and the instrument is in great shape for its age. The wood is beautiful. I used to play this many years ago in the San Diego Mandolin Orchestra (I was in that orchestra for a few years). But, I am no longer playing the mandolin and would like this instrument to go to someone that appreciates its original beauty. Comes with the original Gibson case that has the red or pink line at the top. Case is in good shape, shows normal wear for its age and the ribbon holders are still attached to hold the top of the case at a ninety degree angle when opened. The handle looks original to me, but it is brown color and the case is black color, so I don't know if it is original. Will be wrapped carefully and lovingly and shipped with care. I prefer shipping very early in the week to minimize any time the package would be sitting in a truck over the weekend. Please look at pictures for actual item that is included.
