I started collecting guitars as a student back in the mid 1980s and I have owned 100s of amazing builds. In all that time, I can tell you I have not seen nor played many guitars equal to this. I have owned 10K + PRS Private stocks, Masterbuilt Fenders, Zemaitis, Tom Anderson, DTM, James Tyler, Warrior, Knaggs and well... you get it. This is one of the most gorgeous looking, and one of the most sublime playing guitar I have owned. It is simply Superb. What else would you expect from John Suhr who made a name for himself decades ago building guitars at Rudy's in NYC for the like of Marl Knopfler and who went on to lead Fender's Custom shop.
My pictures do not do this guitar justice. It is absolutely stunning in every way.  To begin with Suhr makes some of the best guitars that money can buy and this is one of the best Suhr guitars I have ever put my hands on.  Yes it's a stunning instrument to look at and you already know how amazing Suhr quality is -the industry standard IMHO but how does it sound?  Describing tone is a subjective art form rather than a science  (lets just call it a personal thing). To my ear, this is a PURE tone machine.
Most single coil guitars have a pickguard and large top routs for pickups and controls IMO a plastic pickguard does nothing for tone (ever wonder why an acoustic does not have a plastic top)?... neither does the top route. Many players will not notice this if they only play strats but this Standard has a fuller tone that is more rounded more "beefy" -not thin nor shrill. The guitar is more resonant in your hands too. Strum a chord and you feel the entire guitar resonate. The Suhr T pickup in the bridge also adds to the uniqueness of the tone. It's not trying to be a tele, les paul or strat.  It is unique and will bring new music out of you. Sure you can get those tones but with a new "color" to them -That is what every player is seeking.  The neck is outstanding.  Don't let the "Soft V" scare you, it's a really soft v and flattens out by the 4-5 frets and feels sublime in your hands, in fact, I have some issues with my wrists and I find this to be the most comfortable guitar to play. With a LP, PRS or strat I can only play 30 minutes before they ache so much that I have to stop. This guitar I can double that, no problem. The contours and weight also make for all night comfort for real players.
