The Journey OF660 Overhead travel guitar uses a patented collapsible neck system which allows for assembly or disassembly in a matter of seconds. But because a travel guitar should be able to, well travel, the OF660 is built from carbon fiber composite material. Carbon fiber provides near indestructible durability and will maintain its stability and integrity in any climate without cracking, warping or changing tone.
To many “old timers”, carbon fiber guitars are too new and frankly,too darn weird. (That's what they said about the Tele in 1952) But the technology has been percolating in the guitar world since the mid 1970s. Carbon fiber material is incredibly tough and has a very high strength-to-weight ratio. The only drawback has been cost, but through careful engineering and old-fashioned penny pinching, Journey has brought the cost down from the stratosphere and made it available to the rest of us.
After packing in its Travel Backpack the Overhead travel guitar can be carried on to most major airlines, easily fitting in the overhead bin compartment. And the Travel Backpack includes a TSA compliant laptop tablet fold-out panel which can be scanned by airport security without having to separately remove the laptop.
The OF660's body uses a wedge design that makes a lower shoulder/bout depth deeper than your typical dreadnought. This “Manzer Wedge” design allows the smaller body size to move more air and deliver great volume and full bass. The wedge design also nestles the guitar against your body in a comfortable position for long playing sessions. Combined with appointments such as a bone nut, compensated bone saddle, and ebony bridge pins, this guitar produces the tone preferred by acoustic guitarists. The unique offset sound-hole design maximizes the resonance by letting more of the soundboard vibrate with string energy and Journey's proprietary bracing structure produces impressive tone, without a hint of brittleness. It puts out a round and surprisingly deep sound, especially for such a compact instrument.
The satin-finish neck has a friendly ”C” profile neck and the 24-1/2” scale is super comfortable to play. Fingerpickers will appreciate the 1-3/4” nut width. The Scoop-away™ design is your “all access pass” access to the highest frets and the OF660 even comes with a passive undersaddle transducer.
